An effeminate man, distracted by personal grievance

By Scott Tibbs, November 8, 2023

These two posts, one on Truth Social and one on Twitter, illustrate the present state of the Republican Party opposed to where the party used to be and where it should be now. One candidate focuses on policy and the economy, while the other is obsessed with personal grievance. If you read these posts honestly, without an emotional attachment to either candidate, which one do you think is more prepared to lead the country into a prosperous and safe future, and which one will be distracted by social media feuds? Who do you think is the more serious candidate?

I will be brutally honest. I laughed when I read "Maggot Haberman." Donald Trump is a great entertainer. But we do not need an entertainer in the White House. We need someone who is more interested in getting things done than in making up names or venting his spleen on social media all day long. One of the reasons Joe Biden defeated Trump in 2020 (and yes, Trump lost the election) was that Trump could not resist antagonizing people and because others were weary of the constant drama and chaos. Biden represented a chance to return to normalcy.

We saw Trump's effeminate hyper-defensiveness on display when this country faced the greatest challenge we had faced in 20 years with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when we needed stable leadership, Trump continued venting, ranting and trolling on social media. Trump is a very brittle man, and can never allow even the smallest slight to go unanswered. But while that mentality may serve Trump, it does very little for the American people. Had Trump been more focused on reigning in Anthony Fauci and the medical establishment instead of silly personal vendettas, some of the worst abuses of pandemic mitigation authority might have been stopped.

Yes, we got good policy during the Trump Administration. Trump was an unwavering supporter of Israel and moved the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. Had Trump been re-elected, Hamas might have feared a more robust reaction from the United States, especially after murdering American citizens. Trump signed a significant tax cut, repealed harmful regulations on business, restored due process for men accused of sexual misconduct on college campuses, protected religious freedom and - most importantly - appointed three justices that voted to overturn Roe v. Wade. (That last one would not have been possible without Mitch McConnell.)

But now it is time for Republicans to grow up and nominate a serious leader. Republicans need a fighter, to be sure, but that fighter must fight the correct battles. Trump is far too distracted by his various court cases and criminal indictments to be an effective leader. Some of that may go away if Trump is elected, but not all of it will vanish and he will be a distracted President. We need someone focused on fighting policy battles to make the country better, not on his own personal grievance and victim mentality.

But let's be real here: LOL, nothing matters. Trump is going to win the Republican nomination. None of the alternatives, including Bulwark favorite Nikki Haley, have any chance of wrestling the nomination away from Trump. That is why I maintain that Ron DeSantis should have dropped out of this unwinnable race months ago. The time to stop Trump by consolidating opposition around a single alternative was December 2015. The fact that substantive arguments against Trump do not matter does not mean those arguments are not worth making, however.

Donald Trump:
Writer Maggot Hagerman of the Failing New York Times wrote almost her entire FAKE story today about the Trump Hating Judge’s Gag Order (They love to silence me!), rather than the Racist Attorney General’s STAR witness chocking like a dog on the Witness Stand (Perry Mason?), and admitting that I NEVER asked him to do anything wrong. He also admitted that he lied to Congress Under Oath, AGAIN, brand new charges. THAT MEANS THEY NO LONGER HAVE A WITNESS, OR A CASE. She also failed to report that the Trump Hating Judge refuses to respect or accept the Appeals Court decision reversing him, a first! Maggot should focus her energies on Corrupt Prosecutors and Judges, whose hatred and bias is so great that they are unable to make a fair and reasonable decision. New York is crime ridden and dying, but I will save it in 2024… It can’t come too fast!
Ron DeSantis:
Today's GDP numbers are reflective of the wider Biden economy — inflated. Much of last quarter's growth was driven by unsustainable government spending and monetary policy. In reality, consumer confidence is falling, inflation is still nearly double the average of the last 30 years, our oil reserves are at a 40-year low, auto loan delinquencies and credit card debt are near all-time highs, and more Americans are forced to take on multiple jobs to cover basic expenses. Bidenflation is killing the average American’s bottom line, and things will only get worse in the months ahead as credit dries up and gas prices increase even further because of Biden’s anti-energy policies.
Trump.
