I submitted this to the New York Times.
The New York Times editorial board referenced the famous campaign ad about Willie Horton, "which the elder George Bush ran in his 1988 presidential campaign."
You know better than this. Your editorial was not just "fake news." It was an intentional lie, and you should be ashamed of yourselves. The Horton ad was not run by Bush, it was run by an issue advocacy group. This is common knowledge, and the nation's "newspaper of record" has no business printing such an obvious falsehood.
With that said, it is telling that, thirty years later, Leftists are still more angry about the advertisement than the truth that the advertisement exposed. Willie Horton was a convicted murderer. The Dukakis regime in Massachusetts had a furlough policy, and a foolish decision was made to release Horton. While he was out, Horton brutally raped a woman and barbarically assaulted her fiance. The Horton ad exposed Dukakis as dangerously foolish and soft on crime, not just unable but unwilling to protect the citizens who elected him from being raped and mutilated by prisoners already in the state's custody.
The Willie Horton advertisement was not racist. The fact that Horton is black is irrelevant. What matters is that he was already a violent criminal and was released to commit rape and mayhem against innocent people by the dangerously stupid Dukakis regime. You better believe that if clean-cut white man Brock Turner commits another rape, that the so-called "judge" who released him with a slap on the wrist will be subjected to a flurry of Horton-type ads - and rightly so.
That you are wrong on the merits of the issue is bad enough. That you knowingly and intentionally publish lies completely obliterates your credibility. Again, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
