Christians should demand respect for lifeTo the Editor: We just finished what is known as the "holiday season". On Thanksgiving, we remembered the first thanksgiving, where the Pilgrims gave thanks to God for His blessings on them. The next month, we celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ. Many Christians reflect on their lives during these holidays, and the importance faith plays in our lives. With this in mind, I encourage Christians to read Proverbs 24:11-12:
This month is the 31st anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that led to over 42 million deaths from "safe and legal" abortion. Human cloning presents us with the disturbing reality that human life could be a product. This should be a time for Christians to stand up and let it be known that we desire, indeed we demand, that human life be given the respect it deserves. Not everyone can be active in opposing abortion. But we can all take a few minutes to send a letter to our legislators advocating for innocent human life. More importantly, we can all vote, and this is an election year. Please come to the 2004 Rally for Life on January 18, at 2:00 p.m. on the Monroe County Courthouse lawn. |
